On Sunday 18th June, dog owners and their furry companions gathered for an exclusive event focused on dog wellness. The event was held at the luxury boutique hotel Casa Bonay in the heart of Barcelona. HYGG Shop bought together Mila & Coco accessories, Zimt Studio, For Dogs One and Macc Global for a Sunday committed to pampering our four legged friends and promoting their wellbeing. The event was a delightful experience filled with Waggy tails, happy barks and plenty of canine charm!
We at HYGG shop presented our range of high quality dermatology products and shared our commitment to using natural ingredients ensuring that every product is gentle yet effective. Dog owners had the opportunity to consult with us and gain insight into maintaining their pups skin health. For Dogs One and Macc Global collaborated in the event by offering a training presentation followed by a Q&A. Macc Global introduced their new bathing solution; The Mongspa, and couldn’t have found a more adorable model than Hoshi the Pug. As dogs owners gathered around eager to see Hoshi patiently waiting for her pampering in a very sleek personalised robe. The audience was able to experience a live demonstration of HYGG products being used whilst also discovering the ease and comfort of the new Mongspa.
HYGG shop´s take on the Puppuccino was a huge hit during the event. All furry attendees were treated to a freshly whipped Puppuccino with Beef & Chicken sprinkles from the renowned pet brand Mr Bone.

Essential oils through history have proven many beneficial qualities when applied correctly, here we will share with you those qualities and which oils to avoid.

Why essential oils?

When producing quality products for canines, many aspects must be considered in order to achieve great, safe results. Essential oils are used in many formulas throughout the beauty and cosmetic industry and when used in canine dermatology can have even greater results. As you know, dogs have extraordinarily heightened senses compared  to humans (in fact it has been recorded that dogs have 40 million times stronger scent receptors than humans) For this reason, the concentration used in canine skin care varies.

Essential oils are great for many reasons, being a natural concentrated substance of plants, we are able to avoid any synthetic components while extracting the most important properties.

Safe essential oils:

Lavender - The most common essential oil used both in animals and humans, this essential oil when concentrated is one of the safest used in canine dermatology. With its wonderful calming effects, Lavender carries excellent properties to repel insects and treat itchy, irritated skin.

Rosemary - As well as its beautiful scent, rosemary carries great antioxidant properties and when used on dogs can be used as a natural insect repellent.

Vetiver - This earth like, musky scent is a great de stress essential oil for a dog suffering from anxiety or continuous nervousness.

Sweet Orange - This zesty, fresh essential oil has many beneficial properties in dogs. When applied to the skin, it will achieve great shine and cleansing while eliminating dead skin. Like many other oils, it also carries calming properties.

Essential oils to avoid.

  • Cinnamon
  • Tea Tree
  • Thyme
  • Garlic
  • Anise
  • Basil

While we find many useful properties in essential oils, some can be toxic to dogs, whether applied on the skin or orally. It is extremely important to always apply essential oils with great care and understanding of the properties.

Signs your dog is having a reaction:

  • Fatigue
  • Breathing problems
  • Vomiting
  • Rashes on the skin or in the mouth
  • Muscle tremors.

In conclusion, essential oils have proven to be extremely valuable in the use of canine skincare. When carefully researched and used in appropriate quantities you can enjoy the natural qualities and beautiful scents that essential oils have to offer. We feel extremely confident that all components found in our products are hand picked for the benefit of your furry friend.
